On Sunday August 17th, Slow Food Perth County will be hosting its 4th annual Pork Party in Market Square at the Slow Food Sunday Market. Roasted local pork on a homemade bun with gourmet condiments and slaw along with a glass of apple cider will be available from 11am to 2pm. FREE for current Slow Food Perth County members and $8 for non-members. People can enjoy their all-local lunch while listening to some live music.
The Slow Food Youth group will be cooking the pork overnight in Market Square using ‘Big Red’ – the Stratford Chefs School’s wood fired oven! While they’re camping out Saturday night they will also be selling barbequed sausage on a bun to late night revellers. Slow Food Youth have been operating a booth at the Slow Food Sunday Market all summer to raise funds for ‘10,000 Gardens in Africa’, an initiative by Slow Food International to create school gardens throughout the African continent.
